Post 10: English Language Challenges

I think blogs let us practice and learn many word that we didn't know before. When you're writing a blog, you don't know many words you want to use, so you have to translate it from your native language. Many times you don't find the best word and you have to ask to your teacher the right  and this is a very well way to learn new word that you're gonna use in a real situation. Besides, you can know some dates about your friends who you share classes and this is funny most of times.

Maybe for all of us is too difficult to understand a non-native speaker but at this point, for many of us is easy to talk with a English speaker some light conversation. In this course we've used a lot of expressions that we didn't know before. I think this an advantage for communicate with someone who don't know Spanish.

Here in the University, I've talk with people that I didn't know before and I've got the instance to talk with that people in English. This is a so enjoying experience because many of us don't know the pronunciation of a lot of words and sometimes this is so funny. Despite of this, I think most of us have learned a lot in the course and maybe the best is to get rid of the shame that implies talk in another language.

I've got the lucky of speak English with people outside University. I've tried to talk with foreigners and they've understood me very well. Besides, when I've gone outside country, I could ask for accommodation, markets and places to visit. Thanks to it, I could practice English a lot in a real situation. The bigger challenge is try to understand (or be understood) people who speak "strange" or very quick, many times I couldn't ask for something because I didn't understand a word or a very quick phrase.
For ending, I think my bigger challenge for, someday, become in a fluidly English speaker is practice a lot and learn useful words and expressions for share with another people who don't speak my native language. Read English, Listen and understand English and speak a fluidly English is a goal for me, so I think the first step is use all the opportunities to practice the language and don't be shy if you don't know something, nobody learn another language if they don't use it.

Post 9: Changes to my study programme

When I entered to this career, I didn't know the courses details and it makes me feel surprised of the themes I had to study in the career. This is something that anybody knows when gets in the University.
Now, knowing a lot of the contains that I'm going to learn along the career, I really think that the courses are very complete because they form us to know something in all areas of the career. At the same time this means that we'll know a lot and maybe we will be so prepared to any job, in the course of the career it makes that approve all the program is too difficult in the time we have to do it.

I think this is a challenge to improve, maybe we need another way to learn all the things we must learn, not compromising the time to end the career. All the students in the faculty know that the length of studies is so much bigger than appears in the information career.

Considering we share a lot of courses with three more careers, we have some courses focused on another area. Maybe this is a good plus if you consider Chemistry and Farmacy is so varied, but sometimes it makes students don't follow the program considering they are in the common cycle of the faculty. When you finally end your fourth semester you can know your career deeply, before you only have an approach.

Sometime some teachers are only worried about follow a established program of some course, so if we lose any class, they're not worried about make changes of this. This is a problem when you only have five evaluations in some courses.

Despite of all the people say that in a public university you don't have all the facilities, I think here in my Faculty we have all we need. Labs are so good (maybe a little old but it's not a problem to work), classrooms are well equipped with air-conditioned and with a good visibility and acoustic. Out of classrooms we have some problems, for example, we haven't many places to lunch or be under roof or sit in the fresh air. There're the little, but important, changes we need for a better stay in the university.

I'm so convinced that in the faculty, people in charge of the studied programs are trying to do all they effort to make the four careers better everyday. This doesn't meaning that we still need a lot of changes and improves.

Post 8: In my opinion...

1. What is your opinion about the legalization of abortion in the 3 cases?

I think it's a responsibility to stop this discussion here in Chile, because the laws about it are made. I always agreed with abortion in 3 cases, I think this is an ethical minimum, considering the extreme cases this law applies on. All the three cases are absolutely tragic so I can not imagine to take their away the right to choose what women want to do, in probably, one of the worst moment in their life.

2. What is your opinion about Immigration?

When we talk about immigration, here in Chile, people use to confuse that immigrants are from some countries and in this way, they use to be disagree with immigration laws to support foreigners. In my opinion, this is so hypocrite. We shouldn't support a foreigner only considering where comes from or just considering what we think about the country where he lived. For all our country citizens, should be a responsibility to receive a lot of immigrants, A LOT OF CHILEANS ARE OUT OF THE COUNTRY DOING THEIR LIFE! They are not worried about the country where they live can expel them.

3. What is your opinion about women in the military?

In my opinion, Chilean State must guarantee to all the citizens the same opportunity, not seeing the gender or any other characteristic that could make feel to person discriminated. In that way, a woman or any person must have the right to join in the military service and follow a military career if they want.

4. What is your opinion about buying instead of adopting pets?

I have always thought this is so simply: In most of the Chilean cities dogs are everywhere so this problem would be solved quickly if people adopt pets. Looking the simply solution implies in the overpopulation of dogs, people MUST adopt pets instead buy. The thing is, you're gonna love it, their aspect is not important.

5. What is your opinion about the Chilean politicians?

I think they are not doing their job. Most of Chilean politicians aren't worried about how our country is working and how the citizen problems are being solved. Despite of all of us know what are the most important and urgent problems, it's difficult to us imagine why they aren't make the changes that all of us need.

Post 7: From cartoons, animes to TV series

I've never been a anime watcher because when I was child, my cousin was really fan of a lot of series of cartoons or anime, so I decided to make another things instead watch series. Now I've got a rejection about all the series, I know that exist a lot of series critical acclaimed by a lot of fanatic people. Despite of this, I've seen some chapters of some good series.

Maybe, in this way, one of my favorite cartons is The Amazing World of Gumball. In my absolutely boring part of my life, like vacations or weekends, I used to see this serie in Netflix. I like the way of relate different stories about some strange kids struggling little problems with a so fast story.

Like I said at the beginning, I don't use to see anime or mangas, I prefer another hobbies like read or see series (not cartoons). When I was child, it was a little time that I used to read Condorito, but I think this is not an anime...

In my group friends, just a little of people use to see anime's but a lot of they use to see cartoons in their free times. Maybe, we don't spend time seeing that kind of TV.

I hope someday I could find a anime serie that I like so much for enter this world. At this time, I just prefer not to spend time in this TV area.

Post 6: Post graduate studies.

Before to think in all the specialities or post graduate curses, I prefer to think in end the career.
Maybe when I end the career I'll follow a speciality in a pharmacist clinic area. I've ever wanted to help people in different ways. In the last time I've seen a speciality in EEUU about Clinic Pharmacist in different medical areas.

When I think in the specialist program to follow, I dream with an special area: the pediatric or geriatric are the areas that I like the most. This programs can be follow in Chile and in different countries with a different level of speciality.

The best way to follow the Pediatric Pharmacy curse is making a speciality in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacist Care here in the Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences Faculty of University of Chile and then, in a big dream, follow the curse before named in BPS, EEUU. This is the principal program of specialities in the world.

In the BPS program, you are competing with professionals of all the world and with professionals graduated in the bests universities of the world, so this is a Challenge for me (or just a dream, maybe).

Both of courses integrate a lot of pharmaceutical sciences like the cardiology, transmissible diseases, oncology and emergencies. In the pediatric program you will follow a specialist in all this areas focussed in kids and little kids.

To follow al the programs I would like to take a all-time studies. I think this is the best way to mix the residents and the theory courses in less time and in the better way to learn all I'd have to learn.

Post 5: "Your new job"

Maybe in this time of the Chemistry and Pharmacy career we have not thought in what kind of work we want. Despite of this, we have a lot of dreams and delusions about what to do when we be graduated.

In my case, I'll follow an advice that was gave me by a friend's mom. She told me that we should try all the specialists in our career and then take a decision about what part of the career follow.

Now, I think that I'll follow the clinic part of my career because I like it the most. Nobody knows what could happen in (at least) five years more... In that way, I think I would like work in a hospital attending patients and making in practice all that I've learn here. If you let me dream, maybe a good and challenging work would be the pediatric area of an complex hospital. That would be a everyday challenge trying to help little kids and their family.

If we talk about money, I think for now I'd choose a work I like the most instead a well paid work. Obviously it could change (I really hope it doesn't). With a salary that let me live I I'll be fine.

Many countries have years of advancement in comparison with my country so I would like to travel to a country to study new things related my career. Maybe a work could require a "travel worker" and I could be. If this work at the same time let me help patients, that could be my work dream.

Post 4: "From the invisible to the visible world and back"

Many people are suffering a very complex disease. Probably you have listened the word Alzheimer or also known someone that has suffering the disease or someone who has taken care about a sick person Alzheimer. This proves that Alzheimer has got a high prevalence not only in the health problems of the world, but also here in Chile.

Proteins associates to Alzheimer's disease.
The knowledge about this disease is limited by the ignorance of how the disease affect the brain for make people forget all they knew, from their name until how to eat. Scientific community are very interested in how recognize the disease for then know how treat it. In this sense some investigation show a very advance in the biomedical investigation.

"If you know exactly where the disease affect, then you can treat it", that's the phrase which used a scientific group for motivate the investigation about a bio-marker using the knowledge about molecular biology. They wanted to know how some proteins were decreased when another protein was present in more or less quantity.

Comparison about normal and affected brain cells.
Alzheimer's disease show a prevalence on the levels of different proteins (for example, a BA42 protein decreased, the Tau increased, etc.). When we study molecular biology we know how genetic control our proteins levels, so this biomedical advance take all of this world to treat people.

In my career this can be use to make new medicine fot control the different manifestations of the disease. This can a world of knowledge or a world of ignorance. Nobody can ensure that the disease will have a treatment in the short term.

Post 3: About pets, love and friendship

When I was child I didn't know what was having a pet meant. I used to have a puppy that was gave me by my mom but I didn't know how to treat him. His name was Clifford, as the cartoon character, and as soon as my family realized that I treated so bad the dog, they decided to give it away until I could be responsible to having a pet.

Nina's face
Years later, a friend with no enough money to care a dog who had found in the street asked me if I could take care the dog. I told him that I couldn't because I travel to see my family every time I could. Finally the friend's family told him that he had to give the dog immediately or they had to throw the dog to the street. That's so cruel!

When I told to my mom the history of the dog, she decided to accept it in the house with the condition of we would give the dog to another family... This never happened and I stayed with the dog. Her name is Nina.

Nina and me.
Nina arrived at my home in October, 2013. She was just 3 months old and she slept in the garden. Now she sleep with me. Nina is a lazy dog and she is ever sleeping in different places around the house. When I'm at home she is all the time by my side and sometimes she don't let me do my things because she want to be caressed.

We have never known the real dog breed of Nina. She isn't a pure dog but she is a mixed of (at least) two different breeds; Sharpei and Labrador. Despite of what all the veterinarians says I think Nina is just a "quiltro" like it says in Spanish. Thanks to her I know how to treat a dog and I have company when I'm alone at home.

Post 2: My best holiday

Many people think that the most important on holiday is the place you visit or with who you travel but for me exists another aspect of the holiday; the duration.
There's not a coincidence that my best holidays were the last. The holidays of the 2018 summer in my family are called "the longer holidays in your life" because you're graduating of secondary in November and you enter (if you do) to university in March. That's a lot of time!

In that holidays I did a lot of things because I had a lot of time to plan what to do. The first I did was go to visit my family in Lota. There I stayed one month, spending christmas and new year parties. I went to the beach everyday for almost all the month and then I went to the south with friends.

Before to graduate of secondary, my friends and I planed a trip to the south. My best friend has got a house in Pucón so all we went to there. We spending a week in Pucón, traveling around littles towns and hitchhiking for come to all the places that we wanted to go. I think this part made my holidays the best I've have.

Post 1: "A country I'd like to visit".

I've never had an specific country that I'd like to visit. I just prefer to know a lot of countries, no care which one, so now I'm gonna talk about my first destination to visit as soon as I can go out my country alone (not for living or study, just for visiting).

The country that I choose is Vietnam because of the amazing views of one of the "Nature Wonders": Halong Bay. This place has more than a thousand towering limestone to visit in a cruise for until a week on board.

Halong Bay, Vietnam.
In the other part of Vietnam is located the old capital, Ho Chi Minh. There's is a very good destination to know about the Second World War history at the same time you taste new plates of Vietnamese food. The last one is an important aspect to motivate me to visit the country.
Kuang Si Waterfall, Vietnam.
In the other hand, Vietnam isn't a expensive country to visit. The accommodation cost is lower than in Chile or any country of Europe. With food is the same. People say you can eat with just $1 usd. a good plate of vietnamese food even the tours are cheap if you compare with other places.

I would like to visit the most important places of the country from the south to north and then visit the another border country, why not?
